🧩 Inventive Mechanisms: Protein Docking, MCP, and SDK go live
Our first technical updates newsletter features updates spanning all of our subnets, plus MCP and SDK expanding access with new tools
Welcome to the first issue of our Inventive Mechanisms newsletter, your weekly window into the technical updates from the Macrocosmos ecosystem - SN1, SN9, SN13, SN25, and SN37.
Every week, something exciting happens in the Cosmos ecosystem - new releases, subnet updates, integrations, tools, and events. This newsletter curates the most relevant and technical highlights across all of our subnets so you can stay updated, and be first to utilise new ways of working with our tools and products. And it’s named after our backend innovation sessions, which are now being livestreamed on X - here’s our first show, focusing on SN25’s evolution into Mainframe.
Sign up to Inventive Mechanisms here - subscribers to our main Macrocosmos newsletter are receiving this as a one-off, so if you want to keep getting this technical updates from now on, click below.
Macrocosmos is the AI Data Network
Macrocosmos is built on a decentralized architecture of subnets, each powered by miners, validators, and developers working together to structure and deliver high-quality data for AI systems. Each subnet - Apex (SN1) , Pre-Training (SN9), Data universe (SN13), Mainframe (SN25) and FineTuning (SN37) is a network incentivizing the development of machine learning models.
This Week’s Focus: Protein Docking on SN25
Subnet 25 (Mainframe) is expanding its scope to support protein-ligand docking, a critical step in AI-powered drug discovery. Docking predicts how proteins bind to molecules like ligands—helping researchers evaluate the stability, structure, and effectiveness of potential treatments. This move solidifies SN25’s position as a DeSci-ready subnet pushing real-world impact in computational biology.
Subnet Highlights
SN1 v2.18.0 — Smarter Inference with Logits Validation
SN1’s latest update shifts inference verification from seeded determinism to logits-based validation—allowing for more accurate model quality checks.
Also included:
Fixes to HuggingFace sampling on
ProgrammingTask
Improved DDGS(duckduckgo search engine) web search for
WebRetrieval
,MSR(multistep reasoning)
, andWebQA (Web-based Question Answering)
Refined timeout handling for miners
GAN-Style Miner Oversight on SN1
SN1 is introducing a (Generative Adversarial Network) GAN-style scoring system next week. Inspired by Generative Adversarial Networks, miners will alternate between:
Generator-miners — generating LLM responses
Discriminator-miners — identifying whether responses came from validators or other miners
Docking Endpoints in Development on SN25
SN25 is actively developing two endpoints for molecular docking:
infer
: Predicts ligand position and returns an.sdf
filemerge
: Combines the ligand and protein into a single.pdb
Once complete, this feature will enhance the Global Job Pool computational toolkit, enabling researchers to simulate ligand-protein interactions with high precision—all powered by SN25.
SN13 x SN6 Integration: Real-Time Forecasting
SN13 is now powering SN6 (Infinite Games) with real-time, keyword-targeted social data.
This partnership boosts SN6’s predictive performance by delivering high-signal, context-specific inputs—enabling miners to forecast with greater precision. By bridging data-rich and task-specific subnets, this collaboration exemplifies the strength of Bittensor's modular design.
Join us next week at Endgame for a live workshop on the SN6 x SN13 integration and what’s next.
Tools
SDK v1 Released
The Macrocosmos SDK is live, in Python and Typescript, for building AI apps that integrate directly with our subnets.
Macrocosmos MCP Now Available
The MCP (Model Context Protocol) connects SN13 and SN1 APIs directly into Claude for Desktop or Cursor. Use it to:
Query live social data
Run web searches
Access Hugging Face models inside your AI dev environment
Constellation 1.0.4 Is Live
The latest Constellation update brings key improvements to Apex, Nebula, and system performance:
Apex: Voice input, editable chat titles, last-query editing, smoother layout transitions, and filtered miner echo responses.
Nebula: New SN13-inspired visuals, animated background, topic-based views (behind flag), task expiry dates, and better rendering with GPU-friendly shaders.
System: More stable DuckDB connections, no more CSV download errors, faster Parquet streaming.
Navigation: Quick access to API Keys via the User Menu.
All updates are now live on Constellation.
